Dr AJ (Attie) Botha

COO
BSc Hons (Chemistry), PGDipEng (Petroleum), MComm PM (cum laude), PhD (Commerce & Administration), PhD MechE (MPEE)

Attie has a strong academic foundation, holding a BSc Hons degree in Chemistry alongside a PhD in Commerce and Administration, as well as a PhD awarded in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering under the auspices of the Research Institute of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering. Among his decades of experience spanning the oil and gas, petrochemical and renewable energy sectors, he founded Kotulo Tsatsi Energy (KTE) to advance large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production with integrated energy storage solutions.

In alignment with Airborne Clean Energy’s core principles, Attie is currently working on actively “greening” coal-to-power production through innovative emission abatement systems and the production of green fertilisers to enable net zero emissions. Further work involves green geothermal power production with or without a nuclear waste option. This work also involves using sequestered CO2 to produce green methanol, sustainable aviation fuels and other circular economy synfuels and chemicals.
